The initial purpose apart, their site The Pirate Bay encouraged a cultural philosophy which inspired and freed a whole generation of creators. And along the way challenging an entire industry which has grown big and out of date.

We also believe in this simple philosophy of sharing culture and sharing ideas. We believe that copyright, in its current state, is wrong and like the industry which controls it, out of date.

We choose to share our content and encourage others to do so too. Culture should not be locked up behind silly symbols. It should be free.

Culture is progress and should be treated with dignity. Sharing caring.

Local acts such as Oh Harry, Gus By Heart, Joakim Fritzner, Leo Skäggmansson played in the narrow and cosy locales of the coffeeshop Café Kultur.

In order to promote the gigs we recorded these four trailers, one for each act. The trailers were shared on Kultur 414′s Facebook page.

Kultur 414 is a cultural association which promotes local musicians, filmmakers and artists in Majorna, Sweden. in 2013 they will arrange a new set of gigs. Hellsongs, Hannah & Hank, The Late Call and Boy Omega will all play in Café Kultur from January to April. More about that soon!

Of course we wanted to mark the occasion with a sparkling red carpet event.

The screening which took place in our lovely headquarters/home was attended by John Smallbone Tizard (the snoring man in the last scene), our title designer Jovanna Eriksson an of course our main star Jessica “Gaffelbarn” Johansson herself.

But now for something completely different. These are photos of Jessica’s cat, Sune. We took these photos while we shot our last scene. A one-take-scene which took some 40 minutes to shoot.

You could say we had some time to kill :)

Our new indie film project, Gaffelbarn, is a beautiful and somber film which follows Jessica in the course of one day. The movie is an experimental feature film planned for release at the end of this year. As always with our films, Gaffelbarn will also be released for free on our YouTube channel.

Riverpool was released as a walk-a-movie. The idea was very simple. We filmed Annika Johansson, our star of the film, as she wandered around the streets of Göteborg. Although not clearly stated in the movie she played the role of an adolescent Satan, cast away by her father. Although the Satan theme was not so clearly stated in the film, it made for a pretty funny poster.

The film had pretty much no soundtrack of its own. It had merely an opening and a closing theme, written by Joe Kahuna. The rest of the film was just very muted sound. Instead we tried something different. We asked people to contribute with their own soundtrack and share it with us. The soundtracks could then be shared and listened to together with the film. We called this the Open Soundtrack Project. All in all we got six contributions from various people.

Riverpool is the third release from The Hill Productions on YouTube. The first two were Pentagon and Dozer. Riverpool was first released back in 2010 to a limited release. A few torrent sites (ClearBits) and a DVD-on-demand, which was released through Create Space and Amazon.

While the mainstream film industry looks backward, we choose to look forward. As the industry desperately tries to find new ways of charging the customers for the right to consume culture, we choose to give you our content – for free.

When Dozer. was released back in 2009 we introduced it with a series of short and mysterious little teasers. They were teasers in the pure sence of the word.

These three teasers were ca 30 seconds in length and each had messages written in the binary alphabet. A link was then posted on the official site whixh vistors coukd use to encode the message.

Celebrating our recent YouTube-release of our 2008 indie film Pentagon, we asked Camilla Linde – one of the stars of the film – to write a little something about her experience of making the mobile film Pentagon.

Waiting for the big screen

Haven’t you had a dream to be a famous actor or actress? I know I have! So who could pass up on the opportunity to be one? Well, maybe not famous. Maybe not on the big screen, not even with my own make up artist (if you don’t count mr Radic’s attempts to splash rogue on my cheeks of course. Ever seen the episode of Friends where Ross does Rachels make up for her? Yeah, you know what I’m talking about).

In fact we didn’t have a big screen at all. We shot the entire thing with a mobile camera. That’s right. And that was before all those fancy iphone 4 and 4S:es were around. This was old school – raw and rough, like the plot in general. Cause it was a disturbing film mr Radic presented to us.
Not only disturbing because of the amounts of blood and violence. But because you can’t really figure out who the good guys or bad guys are. It makes you shuffle in your seat, thinking at first that you have it all figured out. Only to realize you don’t.

When I read the script back in 2008 I didn’t know what I signed up for. And this time I’m not talking about the violence. I’m talking about something much much worse.

You see, it looks like I’m constantly drinking whiskey and beer. That’s tasty right? Something that should have made the shooting much more fun? Wrong! What you can’t see, dear audience, is that I wasn’t even treated to such luxuries as a proper drink (which could also have helped my performance!). Instead the bottles were filled with Pommac. That’s not too bad, I can hear you mumble and I agree. It’s not bad at all. Until you do so many takes the Pommac runs out. What’s left to fill the bottles with then? Fear and dreams? That won’t get you very far. Luckily, your director always has the answer. Even when it’s a very very bad one. A creative mixture of water and syrup was used instead. So the funny face I make when I drink isn’t acting. I know you think it was, but I’m not that good an actress. In fact it’s the icky taste of syrup water running down my throat.

I’m sure they do the same thing in the big productions, but that’s the kind of thing that never gets on the DVD with the director’s comments. Well, I am not one to hold such gossip from you. In fact, I’m gonna treat you to a few more exclusive – behind the scenes – exposés.

So what happened to our beloved characters? Our heroes and villains. Wish I could tell you, but that’s part of the movie magic isn’t it? Not knowing what happens next. Same goes for me really. After the release of Pentagon on Youtube I’m just waiting for that Hollywood call.

So far I haven’t heard anything. Maybe they have the wrong number?
